AT&T has 13 million connected cars on its network

AT&T has 13 million connected cars on its network. The operator started offering unlimited data plans for mobile 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspots earlier this year.

GM customers can now add unlimited data to their vehicle at nearly 5,000 AT&T retail stores across the U.S. After 22GB of data usage, AT&T may slow speeds.

This summer, the carrier will start rolling out the ability to share unlimited data and receive centralized billing to General Motors Fleet customers with OnStar 4G LTE-equipped Chevrolet, Buick, GMC and Cadillac vehicles.

Businesses will be able to add embedded hotspots to corporate mobility accounts as easily as adding a smartphone.

Mobile workers using one of the connected car solutions will be able to share data more quickly and securely, better attend to customers, boost productivity and maximize efficiencies.

Here are some examples.

  • Construction and field supervisors are constantly moving between job sites – they can take their offices with them and stay in touch.
  • Pizza or grocery delivery services work more efficiently with near-constant updates.
  • Sales teams access corporate networks, blueprints, workforce management services, documentation, and more, right from their vehicles.

With the new connected car plans for business customers, employees can connect multiple smartphones, tablets and laptops to a single hotspot without worrying about running out of data.

This will have a huge impact on how businesses operate in the field. AT&T plans to bring these services to other automobile manufacturers later this year.
