Comcast Spectacor will host the best Overwatch players and teams on the planet at the Wells Fargo Center on September 29 as they battle it out for the season title.
Overwatch is one of the most popular multiplayer games, and Comcast Spectacor’s own Philadelphia Fusion is one of 20 international teams that compete in the Overwatch League.
The Grand Finals will bring thousands of passionate esports fans from all over the world for a “Super Bowl” like experience and an opportunity to check out the construction site of Comcast Spectacor’s anticipated new esports arena in the heart of Philadelphia’s sports complex.
The two teams that qualify for the Grand Finals will compete for the League’s championship trophy and a share of the US $1.7 million prize pool—with the winning team getting $1.1M and the runner-up taking home $600K.
The arena is currently in the midst of a multi-year, $250-million renovation initiative—Transformation 2020—which is aimed at reinventing every aspect of the fan experience within the venue.
The Overwatch League Grand Finals will be the first major event hosted at the facility following a summer of major upgrades and advancements, including an overhaul of the main concourse, brand-new lower bowl seating, and the installation of the world’s first kinetic 4K center-hung entertainment system.
